    Snow:Scores of link roads yet to be cleared in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal




    Ganderbal, Jan 7, KNT:  As Administration claims to have cleared the snow from link roads in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, locals allege that their areas are still cut off from District Headquarter due to accumulation of snow on the roads. 

       

    Locals told KNT that dozens of link roads are yet to be cleared from snow as a result they have been facing hardships.

      

     These link roads include Kaloo Mohallah to Gund, Naranag, Wangat, Akhal , Najwan , Kunmul , Zirpora To Kullan, Saloora Ganderbal, Rabitar , Arhama to Yarmuqam , Kangan to Hayan, Fraw to Haknar, Mamar, Panzin to Kangan, Baba Wayil, Chattergul to Brandara, Dard Wuder to Yachama, Gujarpati To Nizampora Kangan, Pandach to Ganderbal, Kullan NH1 to Kullan B and many others.

        

    “We are facing lot of inconvenience particularly we are unable to shift sick and women with labour pain to hospitals. There is no connectivity at all,” said en elderly man Ghulam Muhammad.

       

    Pertinently locals from Ganderbal area yesterday carried the body of a deceased man 3 kilometers on a cot due to blocked roads. 

      

    A family member of the deceased said that 75 year old Nazir Ahmed Thikri, a resident of Urpash area in ShajiNag area of Ganderbal, passed away after brief illness at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences in Srinagar on Tuesday morning.

       

    “We had to carry the dead man on our shoulders on a make-shift cot,” he said, adding, ” the administration is more focused on urban areas.”

      

     Locals said that Roads and Building Department is nowhere. “Government is busy publishing helpline numbers only.”

     

      Executive Engineer R&B Ganderbal Zaffar Qureshi told KNT that by Thursday evening, the work of removing snow from the entire link roads will be completed. (KNT)
