The inhabitants of Baba Gund Mamoosa in a written complaint to Divisional Commissioner Kashmir had claimed that a Fair Price Shop Dealer at Baba Gund Mamoosa in league with others have issued illegal ration cards to families that don't exist in actual while evidences and records are being tampered to save the skin of looters.

“Fair Price Shop Dealer Abdul Hameed MIr at Baba Gund Mamoosa area has fraudulently issued the free ration of PHH ration cards to the non-deserving NPHH. Deserving persons have been ignored and these food grains have been sold at high rates in the market, thus looting the state exchequer in broad day light. These people have illegally shown few individuals married and issued PHH ration cards in their favor, but the irony is that these individuals neither received PHH ration cards nor received ration,” the complainants in their complaint to Divisional Commissioner Kashmir had claimed.

The complainants further stated that the said F.P Shop dealer has managed to get the Aadhaar Card Numbers of some unmarried young boys and has managed their ration cards without their knowledge, thus committed breach of trust and violation of right to privacy. These persons are adding the family members of their kins illegally and are receiving ration in their name fraudulently. Ration cards have been issued in the name of those people who don’t exist on ground.”

The inhabitants had claimed that one KG of rice for PHH card holder is being sold at Rs 4.50 paisa while as the actual cost is Rs 3.60 Paisa.

The inhabitants told News Agency Kashmir News Trust that taking cognizance of the complaint, the Divisional Commissioner directed the Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs to conduct inquiry into the allegations.

Tehsil Supply Officer Pattan conducted the inquiry and held FP Shop Dealer and others responsible for fraud.

“It is submitted that the delegation of Rationees of Baba Gund Mamoosa leveled allegations regarding misappropriation of food grains. The allegations leveled against the said FP Shop are non-distribution of Pulses and Sugar, overcharging and existence of non- deserving Rationees in PHH Category / Deserving ones in NPHH Category.  The allegations against said FP Shop are true and based on facts,” The TSO in his report that he submitted before Assistant Director Baramfulla said.

The complainants told KNT that even after TSO holding the FP shop dealer and others responsible; the Assistant Director has not paid any heed.  “It is requested that a legal action may kindly be taken against these erring officers and officials and concerned may be directed to conduct re-verification of both PHH and NPHH cards holders so that the right persons get benefits of PHH,” they said and sought intervention of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
